"The Day of National Bankruptcy" focuses on the Asian financial crisis of 1997. It tells the story of those who sought to prevent the crisis and those who pursued profit during the week leading up to the national bankruptcy. Kim Hye-soo plays Han Si-hyun, the head of the currency policy team at the Korean Bank, who is the first to foresee the bankruptcy and begin searching for countermeasures; faced with a complex system and power relations, her path is fraught with difficulties. Yoo Ah-in portrays the financial prodigy Yoon Jeong-hak, who profits during the crisis; French actor Vincent Cassel plays the secretly arriving IMF president.
