More than 50 years ago, a spacecraft from Cybertron crashed on the moon, triggering the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union. Humanity rushed to the moon to uncover the secrets hidden within the wreckage of the spacecraft. Fast forward to the early 21st century, after multiple battles, the Autobots finally thwarted the Decepticons' invasion and began collaborating with humans to protect the beautiful Earth. However, the incident in Chernobyl brought the long-buried lunar program back to the forefront. To prevent the Decepticons from finding the energy pillars for nefarious purposes, Optimus Prime and his comrades flew to the moon and rescued the Autobots' former leader— Sentinel Prime—from the spacecraft of that era. Sentinel Prime is the inventor of the energy pillars, which can create a space bridge by combining hundreds of them, allowing for instant material transfer. Sam (Shia LaBeouf), who is busy looking for a job and managing his romance with girlfriend Carly (Rosie Huntington-Whiteley), inevitably gets caught up in it all. He gradually discovers the Decepticons' conspiracy to control everything, unaware that an even greater plot and crisis lurks behind the moon's shadow…
