In 1987, at the Malaysia-Thailand border, in a village under the Elephant Hill of Kedah, the villager Ah Chang is a devout believer of the folk deity Datuk Gong, while his wife Ah Yan is skeptical. One day, Ah Chang drives away a snake in front of the shrine, accidentally breaking the wall of his Thai neighbor's house.
