A French drama film directed by Annemarie Jacir. Starring Suhail Hammoud and Saleh Bakri. Twenty-eight-year-old Soraya grew up in Brooklyn, New York. She decides to return to Palestine, her grandparents' homeland. She wants to retrieve the money from her grandparents' bank accounts that have been frozen, but the bank refuses. She meets a Palestinian young man, Emad, who is determined to leave Palestine. This film participated in the "Un Certain Regard" section of the 2008 Cannes Film Festival. The debut film by Palestinian director Annemarie Jacir tells the story of Soraya's quest for her roots, examining Palestinian exclusivity with piercing sharpness and emotional depth, overflowing with national sorrow, as profound as the love between the male and female leads, leaving one reflective.
