In a place located in the bright mountains and clear waters of Jeongwon, Gangwon-do, away from the bustling city, there is a school of etiquette. Here, a little girl named Song-er (played by Chen Zhiqi) is not only clever and smart, but also cute, winning the affection of the villagers. However, at this time, 13-year-old Song-er faces the biggest crisis of her life as a problem child, Do-rye (played by Ahn Naesang), who has been abandoned by society, is arranged to come to this peaceful village for education, and eventually needs to be sent back to prison. Behind-the-scenes stories This family-themed film "Rattan" opens with the reunion scene of a father and daughter after 12 years apart. Naturally, a film about father-daughter love is easily associated with words like "moving" and "tear-jerking." In fact, this is an extremely ordinary theme. This year, works focusing on family themes seem to have not been well received by the public. For instance, Kim Seung-yoo and Kim Sae-ron's "I Am Dad" did not receive the expected response, with mediocre box office results. Compared to this, "Rattan" appears to be slightly inferior in terms of cast. Although Ahn Naesang, who plays the father, has performed excellently in many works, such as the Korean dramas "Suspicious Three Brothers," "The Ex-Wife Club," "My Princess," and "Sungkyunkwan Scandal," this is his first time shouldering a lead role. His child co-star, Chen Zhiqi, also lacks the popularity of Kim Sae-ron. The fate of this film remains difficult to predict: whether it will be quietly buried or become a dark horse.
