One day, Sakaki Shinichi (played by Kento Kaku), now a stock trader, reunites with his childhood friend and ex-girlfriend Yamaguchi Sayo (played by Misako Renbutsu) and old friends from his student days during a volunteering activity. Though Sakaki leads a lavish life that envy others, what remains unknown is that he is at a very difficult crossroads in life. In reality, Sakaki is suffering from a serious illness and does not have much time left, thus he secretly resolves to unleash the "murderous impulse" within him. The next day, the body of a young woman named Okamoto Maki is discovered. Detective Aoi Ryo (played by Kotaro Yoshida) of the Metropolitan Police's First Investigative Division and area detective Yabe Toki (played by Akihiro Nakao) begin their investigation. Aoi's old illness relapsed three years ago but he has kept it from the public, and despite enduring pain, he continues to pursue the case. However, Aoi's condition soon deteriorates to a life-threatening level. Facing the threat of death, Aoi is determined to risk his life to catch the real culprit. On the other hand, upon learning that Sakaki has little time left, Sayo decides to return to his side. Sayo's presence brings warmth to Sakaki, but even he cannot suppress the indescribable murderous impulse within him, thus he begins to commit crimes once again… Meanwhile, another woman's body is discovered. While tracking Maki's movements through surveillance footage, Aoi unexpectedly spots a man in sunglasses who spoke with Maki. From the man’s actions, Aoi realizes that he has a hearing impairment. Seizing this clue, Aoi starts to gather eyewitness testimonies. However, during this process, his body can no longer bear the strain, and he loses consciousness, ending up in the hospital. Upon hearing of her father's hospitalization, Aoi Mizuki (played by Kanoko Yamadani) rushes to the hospital. Unbeknownst to her, Sakaki is quietly getting closer to her…
