Ji Chang is a legendary figure in ancient China, recorded in classical texts such as "Liezi". The Japanese author Nakajima Atsushi wrote a novel based on this legend called "The Biography of Famous People", and this film is adapted from that novel. During the Warring States period, there was a young man named Ji Chang in the capital city of Handan in Zhao who dreamed of becoming the world's top archer since childhood. He first took the famous local archer Fei Wei as his master. Under Fei Wei's unique training methods, he became a skilled archer comparable to Fei Wei after a few years. However, he was not satisfied and wanted to be the one and only unparalleled archer in the world, even thinking about taking Fei Wei's life. But when he faced Fei Wei again, he was ashamed to find that his master was still superior to him. After escaping the crisis, Fei Wei introduced him to Master Gan Sheng on Emei Mountain, saying that his archery skills were nothing compared to his. This severely hurt Ji Chang's self-esteem. In pursuit of ultimate archery skill, Ji Chang went to Emei Mountain, and under Gan Ying's guidance, he learned that the highest realm of archery is "the shot that doesn't shoot", which changed his philosophy on life.
