It is said that the four disciples of Tang Seng arrived at Wuzhuang Temple on Mount Wanshou. At that time, the temple master Zhen Yuanzi had gone to listen to teachings from the Primordial Supreme, and had instructed his disciples Qingfeng and Mingyue to treat the esteemed monks from the East with ginseng fruit. This ginseng fruit is a rare delicacy in the world; eating just one bite can prolong life and promote immortality. However, Tang Seng refused to eat the ginseng fruit because it was shaped like a baby, which brought ridicule from Qingfeng and Mingyue. Meanwhile, Pigsy, coveting the taste of the ginseng fruit, encouraged his senior brother Sun Wukong to sneak into the garden and steal it. This act led to a dispute between Qingfeng, Mingyue, and Tang Seng's disciples, and Sun Wukong, enraged and embarrassed, even broke the ginseng fruit tree, causing a series of troubles. This film is adapted from the story in "Journey to the West," one of China's four great classic novels, and won the Special Award at the 2nd Manila International Film Festival in the Philippines in 1983.
