In 1985, San Francisco. The AIDS epidemic has just begun, and the entire city is brewing with panic and unease, with fear and discrimination against homosexuality evident everywhere. Newspapers even loudly question, “Shouldn’t homosexuals be quarantined?” Frankie (played by Scott Marlowe), a rookie dancer in a modern dance company, is often mocked by other members for his soft and feminine movements. The only one who doesn’t make fun of him is the bad boy of the troupe, Todd (played by Matthew Risch). The two opposites quickly become good friends and develop deeper feelings for each other. As members of the dance troupe depart due to AIDS, Frankie begins to face the challenge of his first performance on stage. However, the epidemic is the true cruel and relentless trial of life. Frankie takes his first AIDS test, the result of which could change everything... During that era, simply adding the definite article to “Test” would lead everyone to know it referred to the AIDS test. "Test·Love·Dance" is not only about love but also about AIDS. The director recreates the backdrop of the 1980s, depicting the bittersweet psychological state of bravely pursuing love amid confusion and fear. This film won the Jury Award at the 2013 Los Angeles LGBTQ Film Festival (Outfest).
