"Self-Made Hero" is an "alternative" French "resistance movie," featuring Mathieu Kassovitz as the legendary resistance hero Albert Dehousse. True to the film's title, he is a "self-made" hero, a timid boy who dreams of being a hero from a young age. During World War II, he works as a salesman, doorman, and waiter, but relies on information, photos, and rumors about the French resistance gathered from various sources to transform himself into a hero of the resistance in Britain after the war, even claiming to be Jewish.
