The lonely grandfather carpenter created a puppet boy – Pinocchio – with his own hands one night. Perhaps heaven favored the grandfather, for at midnight, the Blue Fairy appeared and granted this puppet boy consciousness, allowing him to run and jump like other boys. Pinocchio, filled with excitement at having gained life, quickly made friends with the small animals in the house. In the morning, when the grandfather saw Pinocchio, he was extremely surprised and very grateful for the gift bestowed upon him by heaven. However, Pinocchio soon realized that he was different from other boys; he had no body, could not feel pain, and only had a cold wooden frame. He began to feel dissatisfied with his current state and dreamed of finding the Blue Fairy to completely transform him into a real boy. Thus, he embarked on his journey.
