This animated film is China's first ink wash animation, collectively directed, with artistic guidance by Te Wei and art direction by Qian Jiajun. Over a decade after the film's completion, it received honors at multiple international film festivals and won the Best Animated Feature Award at the first China Film Hundred Flowers Awards in 1962. The baby frogs hatched by their mother gradually grow tails and turn into a group of tadpoles. They swim around in a pond and encounter two little chicks. Although they don't know each other, they quickly become good friends. The intimacy between the chicks and their mother makes the tadpoles envious, and they decide to look for their own mother. Along the way, they learn from Grandpa Shrimp what their mother looks like, thinking they can easily find her. However, searching for her turns out to be quite a challenge.
