Uzo Aduba from "Orange Is the New Black", Aunjanue Ellis as "Hippolyta" from "Lovecraft Country", and Sanaa Lathan, who was recently nominated for an Emmy Award (for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama) for her role as "Lisa" in "Succession", will team up in the new film from Spotlight Pictures, "The Supremes At Earl's All-You-Can-Eat". This film is adapted from Edward Kelsey Moore's 2013 novel and will be directed by Tina Mabry, who previously won the Chicago International Film Festival with "The Cursed Mississippi". Gina Prince-Bythewood, known for "The Old Guard" and "Beyond the Lights", will handle the screenplay. The story revolves around three friends, "Odette", "Clarice", and "Barbara Jean", who met in high school and formed a close-knit group called "The Supremes", celebrating over forty years of friendship. The restaurant located in Plainview, Indiana, is like a second home for them; here, they share experiences about marriage, children, joy, and sorrow, navigating the storms of life together. For the three women, the most challenging year is just beginning: the proud and talented Clarice struggles to maintain normalcy in her life amidst her husband's shameful infidelity; beautiful Barbara Jean is rocked by the tragic consequences of a youthful romance; and the fearless Odette is about to face the most terrifying battle of her life. Both of Edward's novels center on these three friends who support each other, capturing the preciousness of female friendship and quickly gaining a warm response with their humor and heartfelt touch.
