In an era filled with war and sorcery, Solomon Kane (played by James Purefoy) loses himself in endless greed and slaughter, nearly becoming a puppet of the dark lord. After surviving a great catastrophe, Solomon returns to a monastery in England, hoping to live a life away from killing. Under the guidance of a priest, he sets out on the journey home. At this time, the world outside is rife with murder and pillage, and wandering alone, Solomon faces peril, but is saved by the Crusoe family, who are preparing to migrate to America. During his time with the Crusoe family, Solomon feels the warmth and trust of family. One morning, the Crusoe family encounters a group of evil warriors who kill Mr. Crusoe and his two sons and abduct his daughter Meredithe (played by Rachel Hurd-Wood). Before dying, Mr. Crusoe begs Solomon to rescue his daughter, telling him that only by saving Meredithe can his soul find redemption. Swearing never to kill again, Solomon must take up his sword once more to save Meredithe and seek redemption for his own soul... This film is adapted from the 1928 novel of the same name by American writer Robert E. Howard.
