This artistic comedy film is directed by Qin Jian, with music by Wang Fuling. The story describes how Li Mingzhu (Jing Li) and Zhu Guodong (Jin Feng), who are classmates, become lovers. After graduating, they return home and prepare to inform their parents, planning to get married, unaware that their fathers are bitter rivals. They then approach their mothers with the marriage proposal, but when they start writing the invitation, both fathers learn of the engagement and oppose it. Later, Zhu Youdai comes up with a clever plan to have Zhu and Li pretend to be dead. Seeing his son die due to a lack of freedom in marriage, Zhu's father agrees that they may become a couple after death. Zhu and Li immediately come back to life, and although Zhu's father realizes he was tricked, he still agrees to the marriage. However, Li's father (Liang Xingbo) sees through his daughter's disguise and stubbornly refuses to permit the marriage, leading to a fierce fight with Zhu's father...
