This film continues the "Our Story" series, with the third installment starting in 1979 and spanning over a decade until the late 1980s. It tells the story of the second generation of the Lin family and their neighbors moving from the kampong to government housing, experiencing significant changes in Singapore's environment, policies, and livelihood. After the death of his sister, Ah Kun (played by Li Guo Huang) turns over a new leaf and becomes a taxi driver, often clashing with his young nephew Shun Fa due to generational differences. In the 1980s, Singapore implemented several reform policies, and Ah Kun frequently expresses dissatisfaction with many of the government's policies, such as the forced closure of Chinese schools and the Singaporean elite system, ultimately deciding to "sing against the government" by forming an opposition party.
