A classic Huangmei opera comedy co-directed by Lee Hanxiang and Ko Lee. Minister of War Cheng Pu (played by Jing Miao) has betrothed his second daughter Xue'e (played by Li Xiangjun) to his friend's son Mu Juyi (played by Jin Feng). Concubine Mrs. Cheng (played by Gao Baoshu) is both angry and annoyed, misleading Juyi to believe that the eldest daughter Xueyan (played by Zhuang Yuanyong) is Xue'e, urging the two to marry soon. Juyi, frightened by Xueyan's unattractiveness and foolishness, leaves a letter and runs away. The wealthy Zhu Huanran (played by Jiang Guangchao) has long admired Xue'e and seizes this opportunity to impersonate Juyi and come to marry her... This film features Li Xiangjun and Jin Feng playing the male and female leads, creating a fresh combination; meanwhile, the comedic performances by Jiang Guangchao and Zhuang Yuanyong, one fat and one thin, will leave you doubled over with laughter.
