In the second year of Xianfeng (1852), the beautiful Yehenala Yulan (Liu Xiaoqing) was chosen to enter the palace and appointed as a noble consort. Due to a historical feud between the Yehenala and Aisin Gioro families, Yulan initially did not receive Xianfeng's (Leung Ka-fai) favor. However, using her wits, she eventually captured Xianfeng's heart with her haunting and lingering melodies and breathtaking beauty, being promoted to the rank of Yi Pin. Timid and fearful, Xianfeng, under the advice of the eight ministers, abandoned the world-renowned Summer Palace known as "The Garden of Gardens," escaping to the Rehe Palace with his numerous consorts under the name of "autumn hunting," continuing a life of indulgence, completely oblivious to the affairs outside.
