The story takes place before the liberation. Si Tu Jun (played by Zhang Shunsheng), who resides in Singapore, receives a letter from a pilgrim named An Kang, claiming he wants to discuss information left by his father in Leshan. Si Tu Jun hurriedly returns to his homeland and unexpectedly runs into his old classmate, the sheriff Weng Jianming, who informs him that there are rumors that treasures are hidden around the Leshan Giant Buddha, and many have died because of it. Si Tu Jun's arrival draws attention, with local powerful figure Sha Duoye (played by Ge Cunzhuang) sending people to invite him forcefully; the teacher from the Sha family, Meng Jie (played by Liu Xiaoqing), secretly follows him; Weng Jianming is also quite concerned about his motives for the visit. While searching for An Kang's whereabouts, Si Tu Jun encounters attacks from villains, but a mysterious person assists him in secret.
