The Scapelli Plumbing Company accidentally drilled a tunnel between two worlds, giving brothers Mario (Bob Hoskins) and Luigi (John Leguizamo) the chance to enter another world ruled by Koopa (Dennis Hopper). Koopa uses his machines to alter the evolution or devolution of living beings, and when Daisy (Samantha Mathis) is captured, she becomes the key to uniting the two worlds. Fragments of a meteorite become the focal point of the struggle. The brothers showcase their plumbing skills, using their abilities to help Daisy so that she can use the meteorite fragments to restore her father and stabilize the chaotic situation. Mario and Luigi leverage their strengths to assist Daisy in achieving her goals, while also contributing to the peace between the two worlds.
