Since ancient times, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law relationship has often been tricky, and Charlie (played by Jennifer Lopez) faces the same issue. Just as she is about to marry her boyfriend Kevin (played by Michael Vartan), she encounters a serious problem: Kevin’s mother, Mrs. Fields (played by Jane Fonda), has reservations about her future daughter-in-law. Mrs. Fields once had a respectable career, but now she dedicates all her love and attention to her son and cannot accept Charlie's "intrusion." Mrs. Fields, together with her assistant, goes to great lengths to get rid of the unwelcome guest, Charlie.
