Sanford (John Cusack) is a psychiatrist who, while curing others' ailments, finds his own family in tatters. His son Benjie (Evan Bird) is young but has been sent to rehab for drug use, and his daughter Agatha (Mia Wasikowska) is in even worse shape, as she has been committed to a psychiatric hospital for arson. Sanford's family life is not only in crisis, but his career is also at a standstill.
