Scientists have discovered that two comets in the universe are rapidly approaching Earth, and if nothing goes wrong, they will eventually collide with the planet, causing unimaginable damage. In order to prevent worldwide panic, the government has sealed this information and secretly constructed a highly fortified bunker in Greenland, where only those who can get inside will have a chance of survival, and the conditions to enter the bunker are extremely strict. Jeff (played by Gerard Butler) is a construction engineer who has been given the opportunity to enter the bunker, so he decides to take his wife, Allison (played by Morena Baccarin), and son, Nathan (played by Roger Dale Floyd), to Greenland. Unbeknownst to them, halfway through their journey, the military, having uncovered the truth, begins a riot.
