Dr. Nate Samuels (Idris Elba) has just experienced the pain of losing his wife, and he decides to take his two daughters back to South Africa, where he first met his wife. They head to a wildlife reserve managed by his old family friend and wildlife biologist Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley) to embark on a long-planned trip. However, this healing journey turns into a terrifying fight for survival after they are targeted by a massive lion that has come to see all humans as enemies, having escaped the greedy and violent hands of poachers.
