In the 1990s, a Southeast Asian girl, filled with dreams, marries into this wealthy island... The first story: About Wenhui from Vietnam, who lives in a remote area of the island with her construction worker husband and mother-in-law. Each of them has different expectations of "home"; however, a sense of unease fills the house, disasters lurk outside, invading their lives, forcing Wenhui's dreams of happiness to shatter, leaving her adrift in a foreign land, yearning for the arrival of the new millennium. The second story: As the island enters a new era, a mysterious Vietnamese woman appears in the city. She works as a private investigator, carrying out missions to catch cheaters while pursuing her dreams, delving into Wenhui's experiences and those of the island. During her journey of discovery, she encounters familiar people and events from the past. This film juxtaposes two narratives to reflect on the changes in Taiwanese society, questioning whether immigrant women in a foreign land and different eras can reclaim their identities and break free from their circumstances. Can they live alongside the locals and achieve true freedom?
