In the late Ming Dynasty, the emperor was young and the corrupt were in power. Qian Bingzhang, a former minister, colluded with the secret police and instructed Ouyang Wenchang to secretly conspire, raising vicious dogs to harm loyal subjects. The Prince of Cheng recruited heroes from the rivers and lakes to confront Qian Bingzhang. Hong Tao, originally a hero, stumbled upon a situation where he saved the Prince's consort and was appointed as the chief guard in the palace. His junior sister Tang Xiaomei came to persuade him to return home to serve their master, but he refused. Tang Xiaomei eventually discovered that the consort had secretly fallen in love with Hong Tao. With a fiery temperament, she decided to punish the consort. She pretended to side with Ouyang Wenchang and sneaked into the Prince's palace to attempt to assassinate the consort, but was stopped by Hong Tao.
