In the late Ming Dynasty, the emperor was young and the corrupt were in power. Qian Bingzhang, a former minister, colluded with the secret police and instructed Ouyang Wenchang to secretly conspire, raising vicious dogs to harm loyal subjects. The Prince of Cheng recruited heroes from the rivers and lakes to confront Qian Bingzhang. Hong Tao, originally a hero, stumbled upon a situation where he saved the Prince's consort and was appointed as the chief guard in the palace. His junior sister Tang Xiaomei came to persuade him to return home to serve their master, but he refused. Tang Xiaomei eventually discovered that the consort had secretly fallen in love with Hong Tao. With a fiery temperament, she decided to punish the consort. She pretended to side with Ouyang Wenchang and sneaked into the Prince's palace to attempt to assassinate the consort, but was stopped by Hong Tao. To subdue Qian Bingzhang and reclaim the military book, the Prince sought help from Duke Du of the Eastern Depot. Duke Du sent two masked assassins to protect the Prince and deal with Qian Bingzhang. To prevent unforeseen events, Qian Bingzhang moved the military book to his brother's home, but was unexpectedly followed by Hong Tao who stole it. Tang Xiaomei took advantage of the Prince’s imperial visit to the palace and once again entered the palace at night to abduct the consort to a nunnery. She noticed the consort's genuine feelings for Hong Tao and felt pity, deciding to leave the nunnery. Upon learning that the consort had been kidnapped, Hong Tao rushed out to search. Xiaomei returned to the Jinyiwei headquarters and learned that her father had been killed by the Jinyiwei, and in her rage, she attacked but ultimately fled after being outnumbered. Encountering Hong Tao, she mentioned her father's death and revealed the location of the consort. Hong Tao rushed to the nunnery and fought the Jinyiwei. In the end, the consort was mortally wounded by a hidden arrow while trying to save Hong Tao, dying in his arms. The Prince took immediate action, sending guards to capture Qian Bingzhang's brother. Qian Bingzhang, along with Ouyang Wenchang, charged into the Prince's palace. During the battle, Hong Tao killed Ouyang Wenchang with the Tiangang Liuyang Palm. In a last-ditch effort, Qian Bingzhang revealed the "Rakshasa Great Handprint," but ultimately met his demise under four hits of Hong Tao's "Tiangang Liuyang Palm." Unmoved by the temptation of high office and wealth, Hong Tao resolutely left the palace with his master and sister.
