During the Edo period, the night of a hundred demons occurs. Among them is a cute creature with a doll-like face holding a piece of tofu—Tofu Boy (voiced by Kyōko Fukada). Unable to complete the task of scaring people, he is ridiculed by his father figure, Lord Michitoyo (voiced by Ken Matsudaira), and his companions. Frustrated, Tofu Boy, accompanied by the kind-hearted Uncle Daruma (voiced by Tetsuya Takeda), sets off to find his long-lost mother. However, he falls into a trap set by the trickster tanuki (voiced by Hiroyuki Miyasako), who uses him as leverage to incite a battle between the tanuki and the demons for control of the human world. A chance incident allows Tofu Boy to see the outside world again, but 200 years have passed. In this prosperous modern society, greedy humans are controlled by the tanuki and have lost their reverence for nature. Meanwhile, a weather control system called SORA has been developed, reigniting the war between the tanuki and the demons... This film is adapted from Natsuhiko Kyogoku's original novel "Tofu Boy: The Game of Sugoroku".
