In 1998, the financial crisis continued to ravage Asia, and due to the IMF's restrictive policies, the South Korean economy fell into decline... In Yeosu, South Korea, Captain Jeong-su (played by Kim Yun-seok) is deeply worried about keeping his fishing boat. Finally, out of economic consideration, he accepts a high-risk task: to transport a group of Chinese Korean defectors to South Korea. Jeong-su and five crew members board the "Jin Jin" again, heading to the rendezvous point at sea. In heavy rain, the crew brings dozens of defectors aboard, two of whom pique the lonely crew’s interest. The novice crew member Dong-sik (played by Park Yoochun) falls for the younger defector, Hong-mae, and even jumps into the sea to save her. Dong-sik hides Hong-mae in the warm engine room, while the other defectors all die due to a freezer malfunction. To protect Hong-mae, Dong-sik is willing to fight to the death with the other crew members...
