The film tells the story of an impressionable teenager, Michael McRae. Eighteen-year-old Michael lives with his grandfather, Francis, in a typical neighborhood in Dublin. Michael is sentenced to three months in prison for helping his friend's brother stash drugs, which dramatically alters the course of his life. In prison, Michael befriends an old drug dealer and experiences various forms of violence and coercion. The film attempts to delve into the reasons behind Michael's criminal behavior while showcasing the significant impact and transformation that prison life has on a young person. From a production standpoint, the film team interviewed many real prisoners from Ireland's "Prison Transition Project," incorporating realistic elements to make the prison experience portrayed in the film feel more authentic.
