Austrian poet Ingeborg Bachmann falls in love with Swiss literary giant Max Frisch and then separates from him. Heartbroken, she embarks on a journey to the desert to seek solitude. This film portrays her transformation from emotional pain to the pursuit of self-empowerment through interwoven narratives involving Bachmann and Frisch, German composer Hans Werner Henze, and Austrian playwright Adolf Loos. Directed by Margarethe von Trotta, who previously won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival for "The German Sisters," the film offers a nuanced depiction of Bachmann's more authentic and multifaceted persona behind her public image. It is selected for the main competition section of the 2023 Berlin Film Festival.
