Once, Simon (played by Al Pacino) was a hotshot Shakespearean tragic actor, having created countless glories and broken numerous records. However, Simon has now aged, and his career has withered as a result. Overly immersed in the world of theater, he confuses reality with illusion, leading his life into a dead end from which there is no return. One day, at a nursing home in Connecticut, Simon meets a woman named Peggy (played by Greta Gerwig). Peggy is only half Simon's age, but this does not prevent the two from quickly falling in love. This age-gap romance is opposed by almost everyone, yet Simon remains unable to pull himself out of the blissful joy he feels. As time passes and the magic of love gradually fades, alongside the increasing pressures of reality, can Simon still hold onto his choice?
