The treacherous Prime Minister Qin Quan (played by Gu Feng) suffers from a deadly disease and is on the brink of death. He instructs his chief guard Si Ma Jun (played by Luo Lie) to obtain the everlasting vine from the herbalist for a cure. The herbalist, knowing it is for Qin Quan, refuses firmly. Left with no choice, Si Ma Jun kills the herbalist and steals the treasure box containing the everlasting vine.
