On the wedding day of the head of the martial arts world, Zhao Wuji (played by Ti Lung) from the Wind Pavilion, a group from the Tang Sect in Sichuan, which specializes in crafting unique hidden weapons, brazenly enters and publicly offers a reward of 100,000 taels of gold for the head of Zhao Jian. That night, Zhao Jian is brutally murdered, and the second-in-command, Shangguan Ren (played by Gu Feng), brings his head to the Tang Sect. Burdened with the hatred of his father’s murder, Zhao Wuji sets off to take revenge at Tang's Fortress, learning before his departure that there is an undercover agent from the Wind Pavilion codenamed "Xi Shi" inside the fortress, and that the White Jade Tiger taken by Shangguan Ren conceals a secret of the Wind Pavilion. On the journey, Zhao Wuji faces multiple assassination attempts by Tang Yu (played by Eric Tsang), the young master of the Tang Sect, but is saved by old friends including Dugu Cheng (played by Hsu Shao-Chiang) and others from the Jianghu. Tang Yu disguises himself as Dugu Cheng's brother to get close to Zhao Wuji, but unexpectedly falls victim to Zhao Wuji's scheme and is killed. Zhao Wuji poses as Tang Yu's friend to deliver the corpse to the Tang Sect, gaining the trust of the Tang family's eldest son, Tang Que (played by Lo Lieh). However, dangers lurk at every turn; how will Zhao Wuji navigate this perilous situation?
