Nick (Tim Robbins), who works at an advertising agency, deeply loves his wife and often feels guilty for not being able to spend time with her due to work commitments. One day, after a client cancels a meeting, Nick is able to leave work early and go home. However, he discovers that his wife is having an affair with his boss. Devastated, Nick drives away without saying a word. Midway, a robber named Terrence (Martin Lawrence) jumps into Nick's car to hold him up, but the small-statured Terrence is unable to intimidate the enraged Nick. Nick drives recklessly, taking Terrence to Arizona. With no money, the two soon begin to worry about finances. Following Terrence's lead, Nick quickly learns how to commit robbery and plans to steal a large sum of cash from his boss. The inexperienced duo is attacked by another pair of criminals who have "exclusive rights" to crime in the area. After narrowly escaping, Nick and Terrence begin to execute their theft plan, but their criminal activities soon face a series of complications...
