This film is written and directed by Zheng Changhe, who gained international recognition with "The Best Fist in the World." During the late Tang Dynasty under Emperor Zhaozong, regional warlords held power. Duke Li Ming (Yin Yifeng) tyrannizes the people, and "Soul-Chasing Pipa" Mu Junjie (Ling Yun) teams up with the Six Assassins to plot Li Ming's assassination. Mu, holding six skulls, visits Li Ming, making him believe that his greatest threat has been eliminated, and then secretly plans the assassination... Director Zheng Changhe has a unique approach to handling costume martial arts films. The final scene features Li Ming seeking shelter from the rain at the Ganlu River ferry, where Mu Junjie leads an ambush. Amidst torrential rain, flashing blades, and blood splattering in the sand, it becomes a classic moment in a martial arts film. Notably, newcomer Li Lili stars as the female hero Sun Meizhen, shining brightly and establishing her status as a new generation of martial arts actresses.
