Art college student Ben (played by Sean Biggerstaff) struggles with insomnia after being dumped by his girlfriend Suzi. After two weeks of sleepless nights, Ben decides to take a night job at a supermarket to fill the extra 8 hours. While working the night shift, Ben encounters a variety of people, including his prank-loving colleagues Barry and Matt, the kung fu-obsessed Brian, and the cashier Sharon (played by Emilia Fox). Here, Ben discovers he has the ability to stop time. He repeatedly halts time during his shifts to paint various women. Before long, Ben realizes he has developed feelings for Sharon and his insomnia fades. Just as he prepares to pursue a romance, misunderstandings begin to pile up, and Ben finds himself unable to sleep again.
