A firefighter rescued the severely injured Job from the ruins of a "virtual space factory" that was destroyed by a massive fire. At this time, he was in a life-threatening condition and had lost all of his past memories. Due to extensive burns, doctors performed plastic surgery on him, and when Job woke up, he had completely lost his former appearance. However, the "Virtual Space Research Institute," led by Walker, had secretly set their sights on Job. They conducted virtual reality experiments on him to help him rebuild his thoughts and ultimately used his power to achieve their hidden agenda. Time now moves to a futuristic Los Angeles. Peter and his friends Travis, Harvey, and Sean live a life of wandering in the tunnels underground in the city. All of them are avid fans of online virtual games. During one of their ventures into the virtual space, Peter unexpectedly encounters Job. The two are delighted to meet, and Job tells Peter that he is trapped in the virtual space, which is about to be destroyed, meaning he would disappear along with it. Only a person named Benjamin Treiss can save him, and he begs Peter to help him find Treiss and bring him into the virtual space. Peter readily agrees, but after finding Treiss, he discovers that he is quite a strange person who lives in the secluded Gobi desert and is not friendly towards unfamiliar faces. It is only when Peter mentions the Qi Rong chip that he agrees to go.
