The spaceship Churchill approaches Halley's Comet, seeking to explore its internal structure. Captain Tom Carlson (played by Steve Railsback) leads a team out of the cabin, discovering an abandoned spacecraft hidden within the comet, containing multiple strange creature corpses and three humans asleep in crystal sarcophagi. To uncover the mystery, Tom orders them to be brought back to the spacecraft. Thirty days later, the empty Churchill flies to Earth, and the space agency sends the Columbia to dock with it. Astronauts find signs of burning and the three sleeping individuals onboard, while the crew members are all dead. Upon returning to Earth, the female among the three (played by Mathilda May) suddenly awakens and absorbs the essence of a young guard. The guard then turns into a corpse and ultimately disintegrates. Soon, the other two awaken, and it seems a disaster is about to befall Earth...
